Colin F. Jones: Freedom (A Response)

FREEDOM
(A Response)

It is not a plea for help I hear in the wind,
it is a plea, but not for help.
It is a plea for understanding,
for respect, and for friendship.

It is a plea as graceful as the Eagle’s wing,
as proud as the mountain and as gentle as the rippling stream.

But it is sad. Lovely and sad are your wonderful words,
and in my heart I cry , but I stand dry eyed looking into the sun,
and measure life by those who know the quality of suffering,
and therefore the quality of love.
