RIGHTS

A right is something you can enforce,
But something that can be taken away.
It's like a marriage that ends in divorce,
Like a life that ends with decay...

I have the right to say what I think,
Only if the law decides that I can,
You can wear a white coat of mink,
Until someone introduces a ban.

You have the right to live, but to die
Cancels out such a silly idea.
You have the right to the truth but a lie
Soon makes that foolish thought disappear.

A right in your country is a law,
Which means tomorrow it can undergo change,
Which might even benefit you more.
Now don't you think that's a little bit strange?

So my friend, while you think that you know
Something you have a right to believe.
It's more likely that the arrogance you show
Is subject to the rights you fail to perceive.
