VALUES

In life we all lose someone to death's final snare,
In accidents and illness to the tragedy of warfare,
And we in turn are taken to leave our children sad,
For we are in life's clothing but temporarily clad.
It seems there is no purpose to live until we die,
No matter how and when we go we are always asking why.
But a flower cannot keep blooming and last for evermore,
Else all their wondrous petals would soon become a bore,
For life is change; renewal; decay the seeds of birth,
Ensuring life forever remains thriving on the Earth,
For we are not important except to flourish where we fall,
Combining to be useful to the continuance of it all.
That while we live we nurture love the essence of the Earth,
For regardless of how long we live our lives will have some worth.
