NATURE'S GOD

So all we are is chemical and spark,
Awake by day and asleep by dark.
Part of the whole; a forest tree,
Seeking the species that looks like me.
All made alike with differing brain,
Reproducing; all the same,
Eating food and passing waste,
Responding to touch and taste.
Seeking all our lives to be,
Different to that simple tree,
Whose fight is for its share of Sun,
In the forest of the silent gun,
Where discontented with sharing sod,
We seek to be nature's God.
