ALONE

Tonight it seems deserted here,
so desolate and wan
Like a launching pad with all the rockets gone.

Excessive verses in yellow books,
Lie looking rather stale,
Hollow sounds in empty nooks, and yesterdays e-mail.

So strangely silent coldly so,
that I feel I don't belong,
Perhaps it's time for me to go, for I've sung my sacred song.

There is a sun across the way,
over a hill I have not climbed,
Where maybe I can leave today, a long, long way behind.

If you've never known great loneliness,
Then you'll not understand,
For where I go you cannot come, to take me by the hand.

It is a cavern so deep and dark,
Where normal folk can't live
For there is no one there to love, and no one to forgive.
