THE FIRST MONTH

~ 1 ~

Janus the two faced Roman God,
Looks back and fourth o'er ancient sod,
Seeing all the things we've left behind,
The good things and the most unkind,
Yet greeting tomorrow with a will,
To challenge and to yet fulfil,
The purpose of our varied lives,
For which with faith and hope we strive,
To see the world encased in peace,
That love and kindness doth increase,
For from the past's ill woes we learn,
That all our mistakes we accept then burn,
And lift our eyes to the golden day,
For a new born year is on its way.

~ 2 ~

Let us seek each day to find a friend,
And a helping hand to someone lend,
And let us shine a light of hope,
On those in shadows who cannot cope.
Let our attitudes be of love and care,
That we spread but goodness everywhere,
And erase our anger and foul hate,
From all the sentences that we state,
That we by giving just a smile,
Might help someone walk an extra mile,
With joyousness ripe in their hearts,
Where from the soul sweet love imparts.
For we'll not have failed if just one eye
By our willing deeds doth fail to cry.
