EVIL

A fanciful quidnunc advantaging supineness
Might well dance with evil to satisfy greed,
Yet still risk his life for a soul in distress,
Responding with goodness to somebody's need.
The most vile of persons are still capable of love,
Even those who would stoop to murder and rape,
For evil doth fit them like a changeable glove,
A truth that no human can ever escape.
Yet is it evil to kill lest a foe does the killing?
Is it evil to hate who evil doth use?
Be it done by the righteous or by the unwilling,
Is it justified evil that we choose to excuse?
'Tis a raven in shadows in daylight a dove,
And resides in the soul feeding on love.
