FLAGS DO FADE

Flags do fade as history takes its toll,
And nations fall from inner festering rot,
The face of change is seen in every poll,
What is now is now but tomorrow is not.
All roads are winding east to the Chinese state,
The Caspian pipe-line of liquid Gold is one,
That one day will inevitably change the fate;
Of existing powers most will then be gone.
Ancient cultures regimes and cities lie,
Beneath the rumpled change of life and time,
For nations rise to power and then they die,
And what was freedom then will now be crime.
And all who live today will the truth deny,
But they will long have faded with their rhyme.
