OFF THEY GO

Your own quiet council you may often keep,
Throughout long nights causing lack of sleep,
But most is dreamed when slumbers wings relaxed
Doth lacking motion leave the mind untaxed.
Fair mornings aid the clearness gained from sleep,
Yet overcast... still guilt and doubts might creep,
Into the conquest of the Devil's troops,
Providing feet to fit their marching boots.
Yet thought not shared compiles a mixed array,
That contradict the fewer words we say,
For better is a sentence lacking fact,
Than one which causes foolish men to act,
On what they think is true but do not know,
Yet still by its instruction off they go.
