THANK YOU
|
I am stunned by words I find so hard to capture,
As given to me to receive as kindly meant,
That deceives my wit, that I dwell in such rapture,
For it seems my heart was starved of what was sent.
I'm moved to such emotion that I am sad,
For my mind is cast into an unhappy past,
Where from my verses come to make me glad,
Of those long years in which my joy did fast.
How could one have seen the light beyond the shadows?
That friends were waiting for time to pass me by,
To show me again the daisies in the meadows,
That oh!, so long ago did wither and die
'Tis all towards life's end that my joys do come,
By children and by poets I am struck dumb.
