THOSE FOR WHOM WE FIGHT

I say 'tis the soldier that you condemn
Or the soldier that you do save,
You, the people, who would have your way,
To protect all that you do crave.
What is right or wrong is down to you,
It is your choice if the soldier dies,
Though you may take a different view,
The truth is never changed by lies.
They fight the war that you condone,
They do what is your minds desire,
They bring you riches all your own,
Wealth from seething mire.
But when the winds of war have blown,
You are burnt by the lingering fire
