WHY DO WE REMEMBER?

One minute of silence
for centuries of hell;
to remember the violence,
the dead soldiers as well.
Why do we remember
what we want to forget,
on this day of November;
on this day of regret?
Is it guilt, is it shame
that we celebrate war,
reviving again
what we claim to deplore?
Or is it just sorrow...
for those who are no more?
