YOUR FATHER

Your Father lives on inside of you
For this is what a son should do
Respect and honor, while alive
and love and watch the other thrive

And though no need to speak out loud
It doesn’t hurt to do him proud
While one is young, the other old
no telling how the life unfolds

Some can’t abide a father’s rule
Some fathers, get for sons... a fool

But Col...I know the love is there
It flows both ways... it’s in the air
Your Father’s spirit lives in you
Resides in poems... in all you do

Your Father was and is your gift
And now your eyes, may sometimes lift
or close to see him standing there.
Yes... you can take him anywhere

He’s in your head... he’s in your walk
He’s in your soul and heart - to talk
And though you sometimes feel the loss
Do not despair... your dad’s across

The bridge we all will cross some day
Perhaps to help you find your way

So honor him and make a plan
to celebrate this special man
and speak out loud or craft a poem
The time is right - your Father’s home

Col... I just read your poem “Today My Father Died”. I hope his transition was a smooth one and that you are doing alright. I am sorry for any pain you may be feeling... I hope your burdens are lifted

This is a poem for you and your Father

Robin
