PULPITS OF THE TOAD

It's by their voices they are known
and at those voices, good men groan.
And every false word they espouse
needs scratching as at a nit or louse.
They demand pulpits on which to stand
built higher than surrounding land
that each and every mortal eye
can watch them and with awe comply
to each and every demand and whim
lest defaulters to hell are cast in sin.
But their pulpits, built so high
become lost from view in cloudy sky!
To remind them of that awful load,
good men read the Dead Toad's Ode!
